A welcoming entry addition

Tucked into the heart of a mid-century split-level in Bellevue, “Welcome Home” reimagines arrival for a retired couple looking to better greet family and friends. The new design centers on a double-height entry space—lined in warm wood and lit by skylights—that opens the once-cramped threshold into a place of light, pause, and connection. A covered trellis gently marks the transition from outside in, while the new garage addition welcomes their long-stored truck back home. Thoughtful in scale and siting, the project preserves neighboring views of the lake and complements the character of the original house and its hillside setting.
